Breaking Cycles of Poverty, Abuse, Addiction and Abandonment
Our Village Hands is
"in-progress"
Our Village Hands is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization based in Madison, Alabama, prayerfully launching in 2026. Our mission is to co-fund adoptive families’ essential home and vehicle needs that arise from family growth, ensuring that every child welcomed through adoption has a safe and nurturing place to call home.
Rooted in James 1:27 — “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” — Our Village Hands reflects God’s heart for adoption and His desire for His people to come together in love and generosity.
Our vision is to see families strengthened and fully equipped to continue kingdom work — to raise children who will know the love of Christ and grow in stable, faith-filled homes.

Our Company
At Our Village Hands, we are dedicated to supporting families who embark on the meaningful journey of adoption. Our mission is to educate and alleviate the financial burden by co-funding essential purchases such as accommodating vehicles, homes, or necessary additions.
We believe that everyone has a role to play in caring for orphans, a belief deeply rooted in our faith. By offering both financial aid, and education to adoptive families, and partnering with those who can contribute, we empower individuals and organizations to make a tangible impact.
Together, we strive to ensure that adoptive families can provide the nurturing and care their growing families need. Join us in making a difference, one family at a time.
A peak at a family in action

"I’m sitting here watching my favorite show with my oldest foster child, while cuddling my foster baby; kissing her hands and cheeks, and seeing how content it makes her. My three middle adopted kids are outside playing, laughing, and being kids- what they should be doing as connected siblings. Reflecting on the child in my arms and the ones out playing, makes me think of one of my kids that still struggles to get that kind of connection, who is now elementary age with heavy trauma. My amazing adopted kids help this child heal through their play and inclusion. It makes me emotional seeing what my children have, or are getting, and seeing what this child very clearly didn’t get. Even seeing the healthy muscle they have on their bodies that this child doesn’t have, kids come in to care with all kinds of seen and unseen needs. I've been told, “ Luanne you can’t save them all.” I will sure try. I sure sure will.
Please pray for me, I'm just a single momma blessed and called by God to do this: I'm believing God for a bigger house, that is paid for, so that I can take care of these kids, and a vehicle to take them to the many doctors’ appointments and therapies these kids need. I'm so thankful for the village God has surrounded me with, so that I can stay with them in the hospital and know my other children are cared for. I want to love them all to kingdom come. I am committed, pray for my health that I can do this until God moves me on. Pray for miraculous provision for me to not just live modestly but to live in such a way that I can give big to these kids so that they have enrichment and experiences."

Our Team
Cheryl Brown
Founder and Chief. Cheryl and her husband started their foster-adoption journey when they said "yes" to God bringing them together in Holy Matrimony in 2010. Though they did not officially start the process until 2017, God had been preparing them. In 2025 they completed their 2nd adoption, and have moved on to bring hope to other families on the journey. It is Cheryl's deep conviction that "God never leaves us" that has driven her to start Our village Hands and help others believe in the God of promises.
Jennifer Groves
Board Member, specializing in communications, Jennifer Groves is excited to help build Our Village Hands into a strong support system piece for adoptive families. Having experienced the goodness and grace of God since her marriage in 2004, she longs to share the hope of the God who restores. She and her wonderful husband have been blessed to raise 5 amazing children of their own. Inspired by their friendship with the Browns, they are currently working on their foster certification. She truly believes we are all one body in Christ and we are called to serve one another, especially the orphaned. Jennifer is able to bring her undergraduate education in marketing to help grow Our Village Hands. In her (little) free time, she enjoys running, reading, serving at her church, and crossword puzzles!
Michelle Stewart
Board Member, specializing in grant writing, Michelle Stewart brings heart and experience to Our Village Hands. She has been married to Jason since 1992 and beside their 6 children, they have welcomed in many children through foster care, and have adopted 2. They continue to remain active in the foster and adoption community as well as serving the needy through Loads of Love, another passion of theirs. They believe in choosing hard things & continually putting their trust in God to make miracles from what seems impossible.
